HEYWOOD will go into the Easter break on top of the South West District Netball League A grade ladder following a landslide win over Coleraine in round two at Heywood on Saturday.
The Lions stopped Coleraine in its tracks in the opening quarter, with a dominant defensive display being backed up by a rampant attacking combination of Tayarrah Morris and Nadia Rose to see a 13-goal lead created in the opening term, 18 to five.
The movement of Rose and Morris in the goal circle was a feature of the opening quarter onslaught, with the duo continuing to build on their solid start from round one.
Rose in particular shot incredibly accurately, making the most of the space being created by Morris by rarely missing an opportunity.
Morris found herself locked in a tough battle with Coleraine coach Brianna Picken, who really challenged the young Heywood shooter with a strong physical game, with Morris using her running game to adjust to the pressure well.
