NERVOUS energy ran high, as the long-awaited start to season 2014 opened for the Cats in Demon land at South Gambier on Saturday.
A thrilling victory to the new Casterton Sandford Football Netball Club B Grade combination had everyone on the edge of their seats.
While the South Australian sides took the premiership points in the other clashes, all senior battles produced promising signs for the Cats, as all teams move to fine tuning their team knowledge of each other in the weeks ahead.
The junior grades were out-muscled by some confident and more developed opponents, but worked diligently to follow out instructions in what was for many, their first glimpse of the Western Border competition.

AN INTENSE, physical start saw a closely contested opening term.
First game nervous saw both teams take time to settle and missed opportunities for both teams resulted in a tight scoreline, 10 to nine at the first change in favour of the Demons.
