IN a tough defensive game, Heathmere and Cavendish came out firing from the first whistle.
Many timely intercepts from both sides resulted in the scores remain tight.
Heathmere defenders Lindy Hernan and Hayley Ball caused headaches for the Cavendish shooting duo of Sonia McKay and Brittany Raymond, but similar pressure at the other end from Cavendish’s Jess Lovell and Shannon Raymond kept the scores level at quarter time.
The tight battle continued over the second quarter with both teams remaining steady.
Precision passing between Heathmere’s Courtney Preece and Emma Spencer made Cavendish’s job tough, but their pressure all over the court helped them to a one goal lead at the main break.
Cavendish shooters Brittany Raymond and McKay stepped it up in the third and took advantage of a tired Heathmere outfit to gain the lead despite a tough battle through the centre court, with some handy intercepts from Heathmere’s Sinaed Finck.
