PORTLAND and Heywood residents have dug deep to donate almost $40,000 for The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The district raised $39,408.
The figure was buoyed by the golf day at Heywood which raised $11,252.
Golf day organising committee member Karen Mizzi said the day was highly successful with 41 teams taking part on the day.
“There were nine raffles on the day plus the auction during the evening,” she said.
“We do need more volunteers to assist with food and the barbecues though, that was evident on the day.”
The golf day has now raised around $80,000 in the 10 years it has been held.
Appeal organiser in Portland, Stuart Richardson, said $18,587.20 was raised in the city, which included $355.10 from Safeway.
