PORTLAND’S inaugural Easter Saturday Fair has exceeded expectations with several businesses reporting Christmas-like trading conditions.
A sea of people flooded in to Percy St between Henty and Julia streets to enjoy shopping, stalls, live music, children’s activities, roving entertainers, and a visit from the Easter Bunny and friends.
The section of street was closed to traffic during the fair.
The vast majority of people on the day believed the fair should now be held annually.
Pauline Stanley from Absolutely Fabulous said she “loved it”.
“The music is good, there are lots of people, they are coming into the shop and they are buying, including from our stall outside,” she said.
“For the organising committee to put this together in such a short space of time was amazing, I hope it happens again next year.”
