ON such a significant day in Australia’s history, it was fitting that the Hamilton Kangaroos should signal their “coming of age” as an A grade netball outfit.
The Kangaroos showed a great resilience, as befitting the spirit of the day, to claim a 39-35 triumph against Portland in their Anzac Day encounter at Hanlon Park.
The question was asked of the Kangaroos by a resurgent Portland in the final quarter, but the visitors showed great character to weather the challenge.
Hamilton Kangaroos coach Sara Byrne was understandably happy with the win and happy with the way her players fought it out.
