30 LITRES of soup, over 120 pancakes and sandwiches, and a room filled with delightful conversation.
Portland Uniting Church hosted its annual Pancake Day Lunch, with record numbers of attendance that spilled out from the hall and into the foyer.
With over 20 volunteers serving in excess of 120 patrons, everyone was busy bussing tables, and slicing, cooking, stirring and prepping in the kitchen.
With a serving of creamy soup, a round of sandwiches, and fluffy pancakes served with strawberries and cream, it was understandable that everyone was pleased with the result.
Volunteer Essie Colliver reflected on the success of the event, “things are going well; much better than we expected.”
“It a special once a year effort.”
