LARGE crowds attended the two nights of racing at Hamilton’s Western Speedway over the Anzac Day weekend.
A jubilant Anthony Beare, from South Australia, claimed the win in the VSCF SRE Engines Victorian Street Stock Championship, which had 51 drivers vying for the honours.
The track was extremely quick both nights and racing was fast and furious in all divisions, but it was the street stocks that shone through, with fender-to-fender action in every heat.
Fifty-one drivers out of the 55 nominations turned out for the main event, with the Wingless Sprints, Junior Sedans and Limited Sportsman bringing the total nominations up to over 100 cars on the Friday night, and only a little less again on the Saturday.
Friday night’s events kicked off at 4.30pm with a minute’s silence dedicated to our Anzacs, which was hosted by RSL District president John Lowcock.
