IT’S never too late to realise your sporting dream – just ask Hamilton’s Wayne Munro.
Twenty four years after he first started practising martial arts, Munro was recently awarded his first dan black belt in Kukkiwon taekwondo.
The 46-year-old farmer became the first Palace Martial Arts student to achieve the rare feat since his Master Muhktar Kadiri opened the doors to his Hamilton school in 2010.
Munro said earning his black belt was a dream come true, but one that could easily have been left unfulfilled.
The father-of-two first started practising martial arts in 1990, and trained in several styles before stopping soon after the birth of his first child, Marcus, now 12.
