THE trek to Malseed Park by the Cats on Saturday to meet the undefeated West Gambier Seniors was touted to be a showcase of the two best running teams in the competition, highlighted by the likes of Alex Richardson, Tom Holmes, the Currie brothers, Brad Wilson, Kayne O’Brien and Dylan Ryan.
Unfortunately about two inches of rain put paid to the expected foot race and left the game to become a rolling maul of a slugfest.
One man who would relish the conditions would be new club senior games record holder Jason Harvey surpassing the mercurial Tony Lithgow, whose legal team were unable to have last weekend’s legends game counted as a senior game. Well done Harvs!
The game began soccer style after Dale Bunnik’s tap hit the ground and Wilson kicked the ball along the ground to West’s advantage, only to be met by a return soccer punt by Rick ‘Sergio Ramos’ Smith.
The game progressed in this manner for some time with neither team gaining an advantage.
