LOCAL tractor enthusiasts Bob and Elaine Mitchell, Chris Jarrad and John Lemmey joined other members of the Southwest Chamberlain Group from Casterton, Portland and Hamilton for a four-day tractor trek through the Little Desert National Park over the Easter break.
The convoy of 12 people and eight tractors travelled to Mitre where the tractors were unloaded for the four-day trek through the Little Desert.
The trekkers own fully-restored Chamberlain tractors dating back to the 1960s.
These tractors were the famous workhorses of the late 50s and 60s and have a proven reliability over a long period of time.
They can traverse rock, mud, sand and relatively deep water.
They have a reputation of being a ‘go anywhere machine’ and can be made comfortable to drive.
