A GROUP of gifted south-west musicians were among the first to be given a sneak preview of the award-winning musical theatre blockbuster ‘Wicked’ in Melbourne yesterday.
About 30 members of the Hamilton and Portland Ripple Effect programs boarded the bus bound for Melbourne’s renowned Regent Theatre to be part of the crowd at a school matinee performance of the show, billed as one of the most successful ever in Broadway history.
Ripple Effect musical director, Paula Cutler said there was a slight chance the local musicians would get to meet some of the cast.
“We won’t know until after the show is over whether we will meet the performers,” Ms Cutler said.
“It all depends on how the actual performance went in the producer’s eyes and whether they want to work more on some areas of the show.”
