PORTLAND District Health (PDH) went red yesterday as part of its contribution to Heart Week.
PDH hosted a dress red at work day on Thursday, inviting all staff to come dressed in red and make a donation to the Heart Foundation, to raise both funds and awareness.
Led by cardiac rehabilitation coordinator, Toni Rowe, PDH promoted the annual Heart Week by raising awareness about heart disease and heart attack warning signs among staff and hospital visitors.
PDH promoted healthy hearts through display boards in the main reception/lift area and staff dining room. There is information, including Heart Foundation healthy recipe ideas, on a display table in the staff dining room.
Staff and visitors can also test their knowledge and take part in a Heart Week quiz, and go into draw to win a Heart Foundation pedometer.
Donation tins can be found at PDH’s main reception, staff dining room and Henry Mailing Health Services Centre.
