HAMILTON Harness Racing Club conducted its May meeting with a good crowd in attendance.
Locals were able to grab some of the highlights with trainers David Lewis (SmileawayJo), Mt Gambier’s Barry Finnis (Forty Seven Flash), Portland’s Gloria Council (Australian Bite) and Kevin Brough (I Wantano).
However, the main highlight was the continued domination of driving by Matthew Craven, who after winning four races and three seconds at our last meeting in April, continued that on to this meeting to win the first two races on the card and then the last race to bring his total to seven wins and three seconds from 15 races.
There were four favourites successful on the card and that was in the first four races.
The track was in fine condition, considering the rain that fell over the last week.
Officially it was rated as rain affected, but they still ran good times and the mile rate in the fourth race was 1:57.8, which was good and certainly they were able to run smart sectional times in most races.
