HAWKESDALE’S Sophie Cameron was surprised and pleased to receive the Southern Grampians Youth Award for March.
She was nominated for the award because she had demonstrated a strong passion for agriculture and the wool sector and was a great ambassador for the industry.
“I didn’t even know I was nominated … I’m off a farm in Hawkesdale and have always been involved in the (wool) shed,” she said.
Ms Cameron has completed a traineeship in certificate two and three in agriculture, a certificate four in wool classing and a diploma of agriculture through Rural Industries Skill Training (RIST).
She also has a certificate four in TAE through Westvic Work Solutions.
Ms Cameron is now training wool handling students for RIST.
