PORTLAND has returned to the winner list following a comprehensive 61-point demolition against Camperdown in Hampden League football.
It loomed as a dangerous assignment for a Portland side desperate to return to the winners list after a listless performance against South Warrnambool last week.
Paul Young continued his strong start to his career in the yellow and black when he booted the first goal which opened the floodgates in a dominant opening quarter.
The Tigers kicked six unanswered goals before quarter time and appeared destined for another victory at the Hanlon Park fortress.
They ran in numbers and rebounded with zest from half back while their defensive pressure forced Camperdown into making costly turnovers.
Portland vice-captain Luke Crane said the side was pleased with the quick start.
“The endeavour and the pressure we put on, it finally clicked and I think blokes got a lot more confident when they had the ball in hand,” Crane said.
