MORE than 500 people participated in the Mother’s Day Classic around Lake Hamilton on Sunday morning.
The fun walk and run was held to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
Organiser, Kristine Fox said they were overwhelmed with the response from the community and the amount of people who participated.
“When we were planning for the event we were hoping for 100 people and then once we got that we aimed for 200 … we had more than 300 registrations on the day,” Mrs Fox said.
“There were lots of people dressed in pink supporting the cause.”
Mrs Fox said one of her highlights of the day was seeing a group of 25 people, Dorothy’s Tribute, walk in remembrance of a family member.
“They lost their aunt and sister a month ago after she battled breast cancer for eight years,” she said.
