BIG thrills will be had at the 2014 Clark Rubber Australian Kelpie Muster this Queen’s Birthday weekend.
On June 7 and 8, Australia’s biggest festival celebrating the nation’s own working dog – the Kelpie – will take over the town.
An 8am Poet’s Breakfast starts the Saturday program, followed by the Kelpie Country Street Parade.
Kelpies and their owners will then compete in various novelty events in and around Casterton’s main street, including the King of the Kelpies Triathlon – incorporating the dash, hill climb and high jump.
Last year’s high jump winner Moe, owned by Jarrod Quick, cleared 2.4 metres.
For the good-looking dogs there will Kelpie Idol, some ducks will be rounded up in Kelpie Pinball and the sheep get a run in Mutton Mayhem and the youngsters are catered for with the Kelpie Kids program.
