WHILE there were four points at the end of the day, the Casterton-Sandford Under 17s certainly did not have the game all their own way.
On a perfect autumn day, Island Park played host to a game that was hard and tough football.
It was an arm wrestle from start to finish with East Gambier refusing to let the game get away from them.
The young Cats led at each break and with a tense finish on the cards, they snuck over the line by nine points.
With the Cats kicking to the town end, East Gambier looked solid.
And they came out of the blocks fast; within the first minutes of the game, East had a free kick in front of goal and Mitchell Gray kicked the Bulldogs’ first.
With the return of Aaron Robertson and Aiden Naylor, together with Justin Carlin and Rhys Jolly, the Cats’ forward line was strengthened.
And it wasn’t long before combinations were formed which resulted in Robertson kicking the Cats’ first goal.
