MITCHELL Clark has come a long way since his early days at Mocka’s Boxing Club in Coleraine.
The 19-year-old is set to make his professional debut tomorrow night when he steps into the ring at the Shopping Town Hotel, Doncaster, in Melbourne.
Clark will be showcased in a super middleweight (76kg division) bout against Bentley Shefford, who has a professional record of one win and one loss.
Mocka’s Boxing Club provided the launching pad for his boxing career.
It was here where his natural talent, skill and dedication were honed under the direction of coach Ray “Mocka” McIntosh.
“It was about 11 years ago when I first started at Mocka’s,” Clark told the Hamilton Spectator.
He paid tribute to McIntosh for the role he played in his early development, which put him on the path towards moving into professional ranks.
“I wouldn’t know where I would be today without boxing, that’s for sure,” Clark said.
