OPTUS has restored mobile phone and internet services in the Wannon area, north west of Hamilton, after a five day outage, but not soon enough to get Mother’s Day calls through.
An Optus spokesperson said the services were restored at about 3pm on Monday after cabling at the area’s mobile phone tower had been replaced.
The spokesperson said workers had been to the site twice last week but the repair works were delayed by weather.
“Last week, an isolated transmission issue at one of our mobile sites in Wannon caused interruptions to 2G and 3G services in the area,” the spokesperson said
