THE Hamilton Skate Park will receive $13,500 for new lighting as part of a grant to increase public safety in the community.
Lowan MP Hugh Delahunty made the announcement on Monday alongside Southern Grampians Shire Mayor, Albert Calvano and chief executive officer, Richard Perry.
The announcement is part of the latest round of grants from the Public Safety Infrastructure Fund, which provides councils with funds and support to develop public infrastructure and increase community safety and confidence in public places.
Mr Delahunty said the new lights will maximise natural surveillance and enhance the safety of those who pass through the park.
“We’re really keen on building safer communities and more importantly, providing confidence for people that use these facilities, so that whether it be day or night, parents can come down here and know their children are safe,” he said.
