THE Southern Grampians Shire Council will be hosting a community open day at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens this Friday.
With the council currently preparing a master plan for the gardens, the council and Friends of Botanic Gardens are inviting members of the community to come and give their input on what they’d like to see at the gardens in the future.
Prepared by Andrew Laidlaw, the architect behind the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, the master plan will guide the development of the historic gardens over the next 10 years and provide a structure for future works and managements.
Open to the public between 12pm and 4pm on May 23, the day will be used to host an array of activities.
“It’s a community day that’s going to have marquees, the caretaker cottage is going to be open, historic papers will be on display and Andrew Laidlaw and Andrea Proctor of Laidlaw and Laidlaw Design will be there and they will be speaking to people,” said President of Friends of Botanic Gardens, Leigh Coggins.
