SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council has voted to apply for the last “outstanding funding” of $100,000 for the Melville Oval lighting upgrade through the Hamilton Kangaroos and the State Government.
The shire will apply on behalf of the Hamilton Kangaroos Football and Netball Club for the final piece of the $430,000 project through a program to help country clubs.
Shire services director, Bronwyn Herbert, told councillors that it could take months to get an answer from the state but she hoped the looming election would work in the application’s favour.
Wannon MP Dan Tehan has already pledged $145,000 towards the project as part of his federal election promise to help upgrade the oval lights.
