WESTERNS has won a thrilling contest by one-goal against Tyrendarra in the South West District Netball League at Alexandra Park on Saturday.
Remarkably, it was Tyrendarra’s third one-goal result in succession after enduring a similar result against Heywood while defeating Heathmere by a slender one-goal margin.
The loss leaves Tyrendarra with a 4-2 win-loss ratio while Westerns are also elevated to an identical record after six rounds.
An evenly contested opening term saw Westerns waste opportunities as they went into quarter time with a two-goal lead.
Westerns defensive duo Tammy Jones and Rachel McKinna both restricted the impact of dual league best and fairest Adele Curran in an important opening quarter.
