PORTLAND District Health has started the community consultation process about its proposed emergency helipad.
The helipad will be built between Seaview House and the hospital’s accident and emergency department.
PDH chief executive officer Chris Giles said meetings would be ongoing with residents and families of Harbourside Lodge and Seaview House.
She said the broader community is also invited to comment on the plan by making an appointment through PDH.
The consultation process has no closing date at this stage, although PDH expects the helipad to be operating before Christmas.
Previous plans to build the helipad on the Ploughed Field were reviewed last year, with the PDH board of management deciding the hospital site was the better option.
