RURAL romance author, Cathryn Hein was in Hamilton on Wednesday to speak about her most recent book, Rocking Horse Hill.
Ms Hein spoke to guests at the Hamilton Library about her new book which came out on April 23 and the local connections it had to the area.
“Rocking Horse Hill is a volcano and is based half on Mt Schank, south of Mt Gambier, and the quarry part is based on the one at Mt Elephant near Derrinallum,” she said.
In the book, the volcano was not originally named Rocking Horse Hill, it had a German name.
“Locals post-war did not want the association with the German name so they argued over what to call it because no one could decide a new name, the editor of the local newspaper in the book said we will just call it something stupid like Rocking Horse Hill and it stuck,” Ms Hein said.
