“THIS town is a wreck and I am unhappy about it,” said a contemplative Bernie Wilder, a town planning consultant and dedicated Portland citizen.
He has known trouble, it has badgered him and he has had his fair share.
The problem is “people sitting in comfortable offices making it not happen”.
And that is a clear dig at Glenelg Shire Council.
Mr Wilder’s frustrations come in a flush.
“Where is the civic aspect of our lives?
“Where are the statues of the people we admire?”
Mr Wilder thinks on his feet and is vocal about how our government represents us.
“Council’s days are numbered,” he said.
“Look at state and regional governments, look at where they’re at.
