KNOWN as ‘The People’s Horse’, former Melbourne Cup winner Subzero visited several schools in Hamilton and Eventide Lutheran Aged Care Facility yesterday.
The visit was part of Racing Victoria’s (RV) Community Engagement Program which provides primary and secondary school-aged children with a unique opportunity to meet and touch a champion thoroughbred racehorse.
George Street Primary School principal, Tina Walkeden said the students were excited to have Subzero visit the school.
“We are a small school so it is nice that we could get this for the kids,” Ms Walkeden said.
During the visits to the schools, a presentation was given to students about the history of Subzero as well as some interesting facts.
One interesting fact that the students were all shocked by was that Subzero was born black.
Students were also able to ask Subzero questions, including ‘Does he have a girlfriend?’ which Subzero happily nodded to.
