REMY Grant has scored the match-winning basket on the buzzer to deliver a premiership for Tigersharks against Keppel Heat in the Portland Basketball Association division one women’s grand final yesterday.
The Lighthouse became a cauldron of energy as fans sat on the edge of their seats in the thrilling final moments of the season.
An entire season suddenly hinged on one last play as Tayla Falconer took the ball at the end of the court with seven seconds remaining.
Tigersharks moved the ball up through the court seamlessly despite fierce pressure from Keppel and Falconer had the chance to win the game through a basket, although her shot strayed off the ring and back into play.
Falconer mopped up her own missed shot and dished it off to Grant, who now had the ball, and the season, resting in her hands as the clock rapidly approached zero.
Grant released the shot immediately and it sailed truly to find the bottom of the net, clinching the premiership for her side with not a second to spare.
