PORTLAND Hockey Club’s division two men’s side has recorded a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Redbacks in the Lower South East Hockey Association on Saturday.
They managed to successfully utilise a considerable home court advantage against their long-time rivals at their home ground, Nelson Park.
The grass surface of the venue provides a benefit that is held by no other team in the competition and Portland dominated to register the win.
Coach of the side Ben Fraser was pleased with the home ground win.
“We normally play quite well at home against Redbacks,” he said.
“Because we play on the grass and they aren’t used to it gives us an advantage at home.”
