IN the much anticipated top of the table clash, Cavendish came out firing and got the jump on Heywood early.
Through tough defensive pressure, Cavendish was able to stretch out a quarter time lead of nine goals.
The second quarter featured some improvement from the Lions, playing more attacking netball and consolidating on any turnovers that were made.
Monique Watson, in the attacking circle, lifted her work rate and accuracy to help the Lions peg back the margin to seven goals at half time.
Heywood was able to continue to build and work through the defensive pressure in the third quarter.
