THE Promoting Heywood and District Committee was thrown into chaos when its executive resigned on Tuesday.
Acting president Andrew Legg, secretary Nicole McRae, treasurer Ingrid Legg and vice-president Di Bishop announced their resignations from the executive about 20 minutes into the monthly committee meeting, effectively ending the meeting and casting a shadow over the future of the organisation.
They have only resigned from the executive, not from Promoting Heywood.
It is understood comments made by long-time community volunteer Joy Savill published in the Portland Observer (May 9, 2014, p1) triggered the latest round of resignations – the second round of mass resignations in just a month.
