GORAE Road is becoming a slaying ground for native wildlife, according to local residents Bob Hodges and Barbara Hansen, who believe people are running over them for “sport”.
They say the body count is growing by the week.
“It’s obvious it’s being done on purpose,” said Mr Hodges, “because the sides of the road are slashed and cleaned up and as soon as there’s a bit of rain a nice green pick comes up at the side of the road.”
He said the wallabies are so docile they simply sit by the edge of the road grazing, they don’t jump out in front of cars like kangaroos.
