SOUTHERN Grampians Shire has adopted the 2014-2015 budget comprising $41 million of income and $37.7 in spending with a 6.5 per cent rate rise.
Despite speeches by some councillors that claimed there had been lack of consultation and time to evaluate projects and a 20 per cent lapse in capital works spending, the budget and Strategic Resource Plan (SRP) were passed by six votes to one.
Mayor Albert Calvano introduced the vote with a call to arms for councillors to have confidence in the budget.
