WANNON MP Dan Tehan has welcomed a Senate inquiry into timber plantation investment schemes, on the condition that it does not waste time replicating other investigations.
The Greens used the last days of the previous Senate to move that the Economics References Committee inquire and report by October 27 on the “structure and development of forestry managed investment schemes (MIS)”
The timber MIS industry, combined with a generous tax benefits introduced by former Prime Minister John Howard, led to an explosion of blue gum plantations.
