WESTERN District Health Service has donated important medical equipment to the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu.
Using one of two donated endoscope towers, Dr Richard Leona has become the first surgeon from Vanuatu to conduct Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) procedures for local patients.
His ability to conduct the procedures came after he completed training by Geelong based urology surgeon, Mr Richard Gills, who is also a visiting surgeon at the Hamilton Base Hospital.
