SOUTHERN Grampians Shire Council has voted to endorse an Arts and Culture Strategic Plan that emphasised public art and a ‘Melbourne laneway’ vision for Hamilton’s alleys.
Shire futures director Michael McCarthy told councillors that the “very comprehensive plan” resulted from “extensive community consultation” and would “build a certain momentum encouraging arts and cultural participation”.
“We are blessed with an excellent art gallery and performing arts centre and the main aim of the plan is to build from the assets we have and enliven our community and enliven our streetscapes,” he said.
