PREMIER Denis Napthine has stopped short of committing the State Government to a permanent ban on fracking and the coal seam gas industry.
Dr Napthine met with a group of anti-fracking activists from lower south-west communities in Hamilton on Monday morning.
He was accompanied by the Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty and the Federal Member for Wannon Dan Tehan.
“We are undertaking community consultation at the moment to listen to the community, but I said to the group this morning that they could be very confident that under my premiership, there’ll be no fracking, no actions with respect to onshore gas, that jeopardises our prime agricultural production, and jeopardises our underground water supplies,” he said.
