THE Warrnambool and south-west region is on track to have one of Victoria’s worst jobless rates after the unemployment rate rebounded from a recent drop.
The region now has a three monthly average unemployment rate of 8.9 per cent after a welcome fall in June 2014 was not repeated in figures for July that were released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Lowan’s election candidates pointed to renewable energy, tourism and value-added farming as possible sources for new jobs in the region.
