POLICE are relying on tips from the public in the search for missing man Michael Burn.
The 50-year-old father of two from Warrnambool was last seen leaving his brother’s home in Tarrington around 7pm on Sunday.
Hamilton police are co-ordinating the search efforts with assistance from police in Warrnambool, who are supporting Mr Burn’s family.
Warrnambool Police Senior Sergeant Russell Tharle said Michael had left Tarrington with the intention of returning to Warrnambool.
“Unfortunately he hasn’t been seen since,” he said.
Air wing and ground searches have been conducted by police, while regular proceedings for missing person searches have been conducted without success.
Senior Sergeant Tharle said police were struggling without any sightings or Michael or his vehicle, a 2007 silver Holden Rodeo Ute, registration WLV 615.
He said Michael was good father, a good worker and a provider.
“He hasn’t had any interactions with Victoria Police in the past and his bank account hasn’t been touched,” he said.
“Other normal missing person inquiries we’ve made haven’t (turned up any evidence).
“We haven’t a clue at this stage unfortunately.”
Senior Sergeant Tharle said there had been some talk Michael was planning to drive to Hamilton to get fuel before returning to Warrnambool.
“Police have been to all the fuel depots and service stations in Hamilton,” he said.
“The proprietors have been great giving us access to their CCTV (but) nothing has come up unfortunately.
“We haven’t seen Michael or his car at any of the service stations in Hamilton.”
He said police and family were unsure how much fuel was in Michael’s car at the time.
Senior Sergeant Tharle said there was also no indication that Michael had a medical condition that might have resulted in his disappearance.
“There’s no indication he might have had a loss of memory or a medical issue,” he said.
He was in very good health other than that he is deaf.”
