Past and present Dunrobin residents came together on August 16-17 to celebrate the centenary of the Dunrobin Hall which was officially opened by the Glenelg Shire president, Cr J. Ross on August 14, 1914.
The Dunrobin Estate had been purchased by the Closer Settlement Board and in 1912 the board allotted blocks of land for purchase to “men who had shown most likelihood to work the blocks”. Many of the descendants of these hard-working men returned to Dunrobin on the weekend.
The Dunrobin Hall Committee put many hours of preparation into the big weekend.
The information gathered over many months was on display with memorabilia dating back to the early 1900’s.
Items of interest included a railway site marker from the proposed railway line from Casterton to Dergholm; CFA communication radios used in the 1950’s and maps and photographs of families, school and sporting groups.
