THE social media awareness campaign known commonly as the Ice Bucket Challenge is hitting the big stage, as Portland residents Rachael Fellows, Kate Williams and Brooke Polaski nominate the Portland Football Netball Cricket Club, local businesses, and residents of Portland and the surrounding districts on Saturday evening.
The open challenge to the city will be held at Hanlon Park and hopes to raise money and awareness for Motor Neurological Disease.
“It’s a cause that’s close to us and the football club too,” said Ms Fellows.
It is estimated that 1900 people have Motor Neurological Disease in Australia, and there is no known cure or effective treatment.
