COLERAINE fought back from a poor start to its 2014 finals campaign with a gutsy come from behind win over Tyrendarra in the knock out South West District Football League first semi final at Heywood yesterday.
The Maroons had to do it the hard way, overcoming leg injuries to two key position players and playing one man short for 15 minutes after one of its most senior players, Tim Eats, earned himself a yellow card one minute shy of half time.
The game was strongly contested from start to finish, with both midfields burrowing in tenaciously from the outset, seeing bodies sent flying regularly.
Tim Chester would kick the opening goal of the game for Tyrendarra, however the Maroons responded with three in a row to build a handy buffer.
