VICTORIAN Higher Education and Skills Minister, Nick Wakeling, has defended his government’s record on training after it was revealed that south-west Victoria has the state’s highest youth unemployment.
Recent reports have put Warrnambool and south West Victoria’s youth unemployment at 18 per cent and general unemployment at 8.9 per cent.
Mr Wakeling said the State Government had provided “record levels of funding” for vocational training since the Coalition came to power and said spending was now better targeted.
