CONSTRUCTION work is expected to start next week on the proposed $45 million upgrade of electricity transmission links at the Heywood substation.
The work is the first leg of a $91 million upgrade of transmission links between Victoria and South Australia by AusNet Services (previously SP Ausnet), with $46 million to be spent in the south-east of South Australia by Electranet.
AusNet Services project manager Gary Lane confirmed on Monday that 75 jobs would be created for the Heywood project which is expected to take 12 months to complete.
“There will be contractors from the Portland, Heywood and Warrnambool areas working at Heywood – there will be earthworks, fencing, cranes,” he said.
