61-YEAR-OLD local runner Tony Curran will compete in this year’s Port of Portland 3 Bays Marathon as he ventures back into the gruelling world of marathon running after 30 years on the sidelines.
There are many reasons Curran decided to undertake the daunting challenge of running one of the most demanding, yet picturesque 42 kilometre runs in Australia.
He has run two marathons in his life, including the 3 Bays three decades ago.
Curran said his role as one of the yearly organisers in the 3 Bays offered a unique insight into the event.
