FARM Dog Rescue, a rapidly growing Australian not-for-profit organisation, now has a Portland chapter. Fran Lennox and Wayne Roberts moved to Portland about six months ago and, knowing the “different mindset” of working dogs, decided to open their home to dogs in need. They’re not necessarily “rescued” from farmers but the fact of the matter is – regardless of their bloodlines – not all dogs want to work. Ms Lennox said sometimes farmers called them with a dog that wouldn’t work and she insisted times had changed since the short answer for a dog that wouldn’t work was a bullet.
