VICTORIAN Wind Alliance state director Andrew Bray is concerned the change of Federal Government will have a detrimental effect on the Victorian wind energy sector, and Portland could be one of the hardest hit regions. In Portland on Tuesday to talk to his organisation’s south-west members, Mr Bray said the Coalition’s decision to scrap the Clean Energy Finance Corporation would add to the challenges facing the wind industry. One of the new government’s first actions will be to implement its direct action plan on climate change and carbon emissions, which includes abolishing the carbon tax and shutting down the CEFC. While removing the carbon tax is aimed at boosting all manufacturing businesses, the closing of the CEFC would have the opposite effect on renewable energy projects, according to Mr Bray.
