Locals revive Merino’s heart
THE heart of Merino is pumping again with the town’s iconic pub being given new life by a group of locals concerned for its future.
Merino Hotel has been a favourite watering hole of the town and its hilly surrounds for over a century and a half, but in recent years, the demise of country pubs has risen at an alarming rate.
Fearing it would close for good, a small group of locals banded together and created an idea to buy the leasehold of the pub and operate it as a local team.
